All hikes meet at the Mountain Clubhouse. Come prepared with food, water, sunscreen, appropriate footwear & clothing. There is no charge for the hikes. Space is limited, please sign up in the Member's Lounge at the Golf Couse, the Mountain Clubhouse or by calling (970) 754-5170.
June 25: North Trail, Meet at 8:00am. A short drive to West Vail to the trailhead. We will hike from the Davos trailhead to the Red Sandstone Trailhead. This hike is 7 miles and considered a moderate hike.
July 2: Grouse Lake, Meet at 8:00am. A short drive to Minturn to the trailhead. This more difficult hike is approximately 2,864 vertical feet over approximately 4.6 miles each way.
July 9: Cross Creek Trail, Meet at 8:00am. This easy hike is approximately 1,208 vertical feet over 5.5 miles each way.
July 16: Whitney Lake, Meet at 8:00am. A great moderate hike through meadows of wildflowers, aspen forests and finally pine forests leads you to this charming lake at the base of 13,271 foot Whitney Peak. 1,836 vertical feet over 2.5 miles each way.
July 23: Notch Mountain, Meet at 7:00am.This more difficult hike up Notch Mountain gains 2,780 feet over 10 miles. More details on the hike TBD
July 28: 14er - Mt. Princeton, Meet at 11:00am on July 27. This will be an overnight trip with lodging at the Mt. Princton Hot Springs Resort. The hike is 6 miles round trip with 2100 ft of elevation gain.
July 30: Shrine Ridge, Meet at 8:00am. This moderate hike provides eye-popping 360 views of the Ten Mile, Sawatch, Flat Top and Gore Ranges punctuated by 14,000 foot Mt. of the Holy Cross. 940 vertical feet over 1.5 miles (one way)
August 6: Missouri/Fancy Loop, Meet at 7:00am. This unforgettable high alpine loop is a spectacular tour through steep gorges, lush meadows, alpine lakes, high alpine tundra,and two mountain passes. This most difficult hike covers 10 miles (loop) with 2,550 vertical feet of climbing.
August 13: New York Mountain, Meet at 7:00am. This more difficult hike is approximately 2,000 feet over 2.5 miles one way.
August 20: Bald Mountain, Meet at 7:00am. This steep hike takes you 3,700 vertical feet up Spraddle Creek to the peak of Bald Mountain. From this 12,100 peak you are rewarded with spectacular views into the Gore Range and down into Vail. 3,700 vertical feet over 4 miles (one way).
August 27: Bighorn Cabin, Meet at 8:00am. A beautiful hike to a circa-1925 homestead cabin at the base of the Gore Range. This trail gains a healthy 220 vertical feet over 3.6 miles.
September 4: Turquoise Lake, Meet at 7:00am. This most difficult hike is approximately 2,700 vertical feet over 6.2 miles one way. We will meet at the club and drive to Red Tail Camp and begin our hike from there.
